Beekeeping in the Santa Fe Area

Location: Upstairs conference room of the Udall Building- 725 Camino Lejo, Santa Fe, NM 87505

Participants will learn about the history of beekeeping, the anatomy of bees, how one can set up a backyard beekeeping apiary, the different materials and equipment necessary for beekeeping, and the preferred types of plants to attract bees in the Santa Fe area. 

About the Instructor: Ken and his wife Susan have lived in Eldorado at Santa Fe for the past 15 years. This will be his 6th year keeping bees at his home. He has kept bees in both top bar and Langstroth hives. The flowering schedules of both wild and cultivated plants in the Eldorado area were collected to determine which plants were most sought after by his bees.
