From jazz, to hip-hop, to soul food, to fashion, African-Americans are known internationally for their creative cultural and improvised style. Often overlooked are their artistic contributions to horticulture via garden design. In this lecture we will cover 600 years of history from pre-colonial Africa to today, dissecting the evolution and elements of this unique art form.
About Abra Lee - A self-proclaimed 'Horticulturist Extraordinaire,' Abra Lee is owner of Conquer The Soil, LLC and a contributing writer for Northside Woman Magazine. Abra is best known for her work as landscape manager for two international airports: George Bush Airport in Houston, Texas and Hartsfield-Jackson in Atlanta, Georgia. She has appeared in several media and print outlets including CNN and Atlanta Magazine. Abra is a graduate of Auburn University College of Agriculture.
