In this hands-on class, you will find out the basic facts about native bees and how we depend on them for food and beauty in our lives. Learn about resources to help you welcome native bees into your landscape and best of all, help us create a native bee house for our beautiful SF Botanical Garden!
About your Instructors: Susie Sonflieth has been gardening in Santa Fe for over 30 years. She began life on a produce farm in Central Texas and was raised by an amateur naturalist, her grandmother. Her love for all flora and fauna led to a degree in Natural History from the University of Texas. Susie is a Santa Fe Master Gardener and both a compost and native plant educator. She also has a MLS from Texas Women’s University.
Ann Caudell - Over the course of 40 years, Ann has gardened in Arizona, California, Washington, and New Mexico. She became a Master Gardener with the SFMGA in 2015 and has taken certification courses in native plants and composting. She is one of the Co-Leaders at the Randall Davy Audubon Center and a member of the state Native Plant Society. Ann is very interested in native bees, native plants that attract native bees, and building native bee houses.
