New Mexico offers many challenges to gardeners, including poor soil, high winds, erratic precipitation and temperature patterns.

This class is designed as a two session crash course on understanding the challenges of landscaping in Santa Fe and how to meet those challenges related to water, wind, soil and sun.

Tracy Neal will teach you how to create a garden that works in our area, from nourishing the soil to choosing the right plants.

He will share his, 45+ years of experience in New Mexico as a nurseryman, landscaper and arborist, offering you the information you need to create a landscape that meets the challenges of the present and future.

Tracy Neal moved to Santa Fe in 1986 to run the nursery at Santa Fe Greenhouses. While there he introduced many new and under-utilized plants to the Santa Fe market. In 1995 he co-founded a local landscaping company. His landscape work included everything from small gardens in town to large country estates. He now works as a private consultant and teacher and also serves on the Municipal Tree Board for the City of Santa Fe.
