The wild lands of the Southwest require a trained eye to understand the stark ecological beauty and extreme rhythms of water and heat. Appreciating the natural history, processes of erosion and recovery, and our enormous water harvesting and re-use potential lead to informed land restoration, landscaping, and food gardening practices. Attune to your environment with this series of two classes that will help you read the wild landscape and create productive food growing environments. Rain catchment, water harvesting earthworks, greywater systems, high desert vegetable gardening, greenhouse practices, and land restoration techniques will be addressed.
This is a two part classes taking place from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday, November 3rd and 4th.
About your Instructor: Amanda Bramble is the director at Ampersand Sustainable Learning Center in Madrid, NM. She is a teacher of ecological restoration, organic agriculture, natural building, passive solar design, water conserving systems, and permaculture. She designed and crafted the infrastructure of her living learning center to cultivate respectful and conscious relationships with the natural elements that support life. Amanda teaches at local colleges and educational organizations in New Mexico and has also offered consultations and presentations across the country.
