Did you know Smokey the Bear was based on a real-life black bear cub saved from a New Mexico forest fire? Join Garden Educator Robin Baer in honor of Bear Awareness Week 2024 for a family-friendly and fun program on our elusive state mammal- the black bear! Learn about their specific role in our ecosystem and how to identify signs of black bears. Through a presentation and a visit to some of their favorite plants, you will walk away with a newfound appreciation of these important creatures.
