In this hands-on workshop, you will learn how to cook traditional recipes in an horno (outdoor oven) within the Santa Fe Botanical Garden. Norma Naranjo will demonstrate how to use and start the horno, as well as guide you through the process of making various authentic dishes to be baked and cooked. After all of the dishes are prepared and ready, participants will enjoy a traditional Feast Meal, as we commune over the joys of cooking, baking, and being in a garden setting. During the course of the class, Norma will talk about Native American traditions and culture, and how this all fits into Feast Days. You will leave with full bellies and food to take home and share.

About your Instructor: Norma Naranjo is a member of Ohkay Owingeh. She started her business of cooking and teaching with traditional hornos 19 years ago in hopes of sharing her culture and traditions. Her ultimate goal is to create a lasting connection to the earth and spirits.
