Come spend the afternoon with the Santa Fe Botanical Garden at the Leonora Curtin Wetland Preserve exploring, photographing, and recording unique plants and aquatic animals. The unseen world of our New Mexico wetlands will be discovered through an expedition to find aquatic insects and creatures as well as identifying plants that define our unique Cienega wetland. We will identify and record as we add to the database of critters and plants in this special area. You will be provided with aquatic field supplies including lenses, I.D. books, nets, viewing trays, and microscopes.
About your instructor, Jeff Depew- Jeff brings a great deal of experience to his role as your teacher for this class focusing on wetland habitats. Able to wear many hats, Jeff provides biology, ecology, environmental sustainability, and teaching experience to any educational opportunity he provides. Jeff has designed, taught, and directed field science, natural history and interdisciplinary ecology classes and science programs for motivated students at Missouri Botanical Garden and has acquired a wealth of research and field experience throughout the world.
